Need to print on campus? LITS has the printers you need along with convenient ways to access them. From workhorse laser printers in labs to public multi-function devices (MFDs) to departmental printers, you can print all your work, whenever you need!
MFDs provide a variety of services, including digital scanning, copying, and printing (both black & white and color). Select MFDs also have fax capability and finishing tools that enable collating, stapling, hole punch, and more.

You can print from your personal computer to the public multi-function devices (MFDs) around campus using Mobility Print. You can also print from any public lab computer to either public MFDs or lab laser printers. To release your print job, you can tap your OneCard at the MFD of your choice. Students are given $20 in free printing per semester* on their OneCards, in the form of “LITS Lyra.” At the least expensive printing rate, $20 covers 1000 pages per semester for each student.
You can manage your printing funds and print jobs by logging into Papercut, LITS’ print management system. Once logged in, you can:
- Review your LITS Lyra balance — select Summary.
- View your recently released print jobs — select Recent Print Jobs.
- Find a job that did not print properly and select Request a Refund. Requests are reviewed within 48 hours.
*If you use all $20 of free printing before the end of the semester, additional print jobs will be charged to your MHCXpress account.
Faculty and staff computers are set up to print to laser printers and MFDs located close to or in department offices. If you find that you need to install another campus printer onto your college-owned computer, you can find installation instructions directly on most campus MFDs. For support, contact the Technology Help Desk.
Faculty and staff can also use Mobility Print to print to the public MFDs around campus. Mobility Print can be installed on personal computers, college-owned computers, and cell phones.
Costs for printing are charged to the departments at the same rates shown above. Laser printer charges are billed to the departments quarterly, and MFD charges are billed monthly.
You can also swipe your OneCard on any departmental MFD to access copying functions.
Large printing jobs
For large printing or copying jobs (over 100 pages), consider using the Auxiliary Services Copy/Print Center rather than your departmental laser printer or MFD. Per-page rates are cheaper, and they even have an online form you can use to submit jobs. Auxiliary Services maintains large-production-capacity MFDs that can print your large jobs quickly and accurately.

Printer Supplies
Supplies for Canon MFDs are managed directly by Canon through their automatic toner shipment program. The toner levels of all MFDs are monitored and when the level gets to 10% a toner is shipped to your office location. If you ever have questions or concerns you can call Canon Supplies directly at 1-800-355-1390.
Toner for Kyocera laser printers will be automatically delivered to departments by Kyocera Document Solutions of New England.
Paper should be ordered following Financial Services’ ordering paper instructions on the eMarketplace system and will be charged to LITS.
Recycling Used Toner Cartridges & Waste Toner Containers
Canon provides toner recycling free of cost to MHC. Please collect your used toner cartridges and Canon Waste Toner Containers and print a free shipping label. Labeled packages can be dropped at Auxiliary Services to be mailed back to Canon.
Feel free to ask for printing or copying help at any of the LITS service desks located throughout the library.
To learn how to use the MFDs, please take advantage of Canon’s online training videos. We’ve outlined how to navigate Canon's eLearning catalogue and compiled a curated list of videos most relevant to the MHC community.
If your MFD has a card reader, you have tap capability. To use your MFD, simply tap and hold your OneCard on the black card reader until you hear three beeps. If you accidentally pull your card away after the first beep, wait 15 seconds and try again.
If your MFD does not have a card reader, select Guest on the bottom right hand corner of the home screen. On the next screen, click Use copier to access your MFD’s functions.
