Know Your History: Henry Rox

The arrival of Spring brings about fresh flowers, fruit, and vegetables, and they are here in the archives (but not in ways you would expect!) The archives has amazing photos of sculptures done by Henry Rox, artist and professor of art at Mount Holyoke College from 1939-1964. Born in Berlin, Rox studied art and art history throughout Germany and France, and eventually settled in the United States in 1938. His photo sculpture was featured in magazines, postcards, and children’s books. The series of his sculptures featuring fresh produce brought to life are a great way to usher in the season.
