EBSCO Discover search has changed. Learn what this means for you.

What’s happening?

On July 28, EBSCO significantly updated their search interface, which means you may notice changes to our EBSCO search tools, including popular databases like:

  • Discover, the tool that we use to search Five College library holdings
  • PsycINFO
  • Academic Search Premier
  • ERIC

What is EBSCO?

EBSCO is the company behind many of the database platforms we subscribe to, and their products often share a search interface.

What does this mean for me?

While functionality will remain mostly the same, you may find that some common tools you use while doing research look, work, or are positioned in a way that’s a little different from what you’re used to.

How can I find out more?

More information about the new interface is available on our guide to getting started with Discover, and if you aren’t certain whether a resource is an EBSCO database or not, you can check the full list of MHC EBSCO databases.

Is there anything I need to do?

For most users, you don’t need to do anything!

If you have lost access to custom folders, you'll still be able to download a report of the contents of your old folders which you can use to recreate them as projects (EBSCO's new name for folders) in the new user interface. Please consult these instructions for downloading the data from custom folders and these instructions for creating projects.
