Recently MHC community members have received a few different phishing messages claiming to be from Vimeo.
The attackers impersonate Vimeo by using the sender address "vimeo[@]vimeo[.]com" and a subject line referencing a Vimeo notification, then embedded a suspicious link promising a $500 reward or threatening account closure to entice the recipient into divulging information.
The emails contain links with suspicious characteristics, including links to a recently created domain (vimeo[.]vimcenter[.]info) that is not associated with the legitimate Vimeo brand. This is a common tactic used in phishing attacks to direct recipients to malicious sites, and the emails use engagement vocabulary like 'Congratulations!' and "yo͏ur a͏c͏c͏ou͏nt h͏as b͏ee͏n te͏mp͏ora͏rily re͏st͏ric͏ted" to manipulate the recipient into clicking the link.
