Before Prospect Hall was built, a pavilion known as the Pepper Box sat at the top of Prospect Hill. Built in 1884, the Pepper Box was the site of many picnics and May Day festivities. Unfortunately, by 1920, the Pepper Box was in such a state of disrepair that it had to be torn down.
