Discover search, library catalog, etc.

Users are unable to access account information in Discover search, and links to request items from MHC and Five College libraries are not properly displaying. LITS is working with our vendor partner to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. In the interim, please call (413-538-2262) or visit the Circulation Desk if you need help requesting items or have questions about your account.

The library services platform (FOLIO) will receive an update on Thursday 10/12. The update will be applied between 4:00am and 6:00am. During the update window, real-time item availability information and material requests in Discover search will be unavailable. 

LITS' library services platform was successfully updated overnight on Monday 7/31. Real-time item availability information and material requests in Discover search are restored.

The library services platform (FOLIO) will undergo a software update overnight on Monday 7/31. The update will begin at 9:00pm, and we expect it to be completed by 7:00am on Tuesday 8/1. The library services platform (FOLIO) will undergo maintenance overnight on Tuesday 5/9. Work will begin at 11:30pm, and we expect it to be completed by 7:00am on Wednesday 5/10. During the maintenance window real-time item availability information and material requests in Discover search will be unavailable.

The library services platform (FOLIO) will undergo a software update overnight on Monday 4/3. The update will begin at 9:00pm, and we expect it to be completed by 7:00am on Tuesday 4/4. During the update, real-time item availability information and material requests in Discover search will be unavailable. 

The disruptions some users experienced last week when requesting library materials through Discover advanced search have been resolved. All My Account functionality in Discover is now restored, and requests can be placed directly through the catalog.

Our vendor has made significant progress in addressing an issue in Discover advanced search that has impacted some users' ability to request materials and view their accounts. While request functionality has improved, their work continues as they resolve issues identified during testing. 

Please continue to contact the Circulation Desk at libcirc@mtholyoke.edu or 413-538-2622 if you have difficulty accessing your account or requesting materials via Discover advanced search.

LITS continues to work with our vendor partner to resolve an issue in Discover advanced search that is impacting users' ability to request materials and view their accounts. Our vendor has identified the root cause of this disruption and intends to apply a fix tomorrow, Friday 1/27.  We will continue to add updates to the system status page as needed.

EBSCO is currently experiencing issues with Single Sign On (SSO) which is affecting users' ability to log in to Discover to view their accounts and place requests. EBSCO engineers are actively working to resolve the outage.

One of the systems that supports access to library materials is currently down, meaning that many library materials are currently unavailable. LITS is aware of the issue and working on a fix currently.

We've heard from our Systems team that the issue has been resolved.  If you continue to experience challenges, please clear cache, cookies, and history and restart your web-browser. Contact the Technology Help Desk (helpdesk@mtholyoke.edu or x2600) with questions.

As we continue to troubleshoot the login issue for LITS databases, we have narrowed down the problem to off-campus access.  If you are trying to connect to a LITS database from off-campus, please connect to the VPN first.  

We are aware of ongoing login issues with some library systems and are actively investigating. Updates will be posted here.

The Library Discover search as well as some other research databases are experiencing frequent system time-outs.   This includes the Journal Locator and Get It linking tool.   The vendor is working hard to resolve these issues quickly.

LITS reports as of Monday evening, 8/2/21, that all MHC services impacted by the electrical outage today have been restored.  Please restart your computer if you notice any inconsistencies.  We are sorry for the interruption in workflow, and appreciate your patience as our team worked to a final resolution.  

Most MHC logins are fixed, including Embark, Handshake, Library Catalog, Moodle, Pathways, Slate. There may be some remaining account login problems; we are seeing if we can pre-emptively identify and correct these. Eduroam continues to be unavailable, we recommend LyonNet-Encrypt.

We are continuing to experience issues related to the electrical problem from earlier today.   The key primary services impacted are listed below. We are working to restore them ASAP: Moodle, Drupal, Pathways, FoodPro, Embark, The Gates, Slate, PageUp, Library Catalog, and Eduroam (Wifi)

Dear Mount Holyoke College Community, 

LITS is writing to advise you that the LITS Library Tools service is currently experiencing interruptions. The red MHLinks button functionality is experiencing occasional errors.  Please contact researchservices-g@mtholyoke.edu if you need help tracking down the full text of an article.

Planned Maintenance - Library Catalog

This Sunday morning (2/21) the Library Catalog will be down for an extended time in order to install a re-built keyword index and reporting tables. This work will start early morning Sunday and should be completed before 10:00am EDT. 

During this time the Catalog will be down and while Discover will be up and running it will not be able to check on the current availability of items and links to the Catalog from Discover for making requests will be down.
