Logging into MHC systems

Normal

DUO/Workday has been restored and should be working properly. Ongoing issues or concerns should be reported to the LITS Technology Help Desk.

As mentioned earlier DUO has a System Status Page for those who are further interested.

LITS is aware of ongoing intermittent login issues for services that are protected by Duo MFA. This includes Workday, Rstudio, JupyterHub, and the MHC VPN.

Duo reports: "We are investigating an issue causing degraded performance of authentications across multiple Duo deployments and are working to correct the issue as soon as possible." See Duo's status page for more details.

LITS has been alerted to a login issue in Colleague. We are working to resolve the issue.  We will update this page with status changes.

For a short time overnight and early morning of May 16th, logging into most systems (including Moodle and eduroam) was unavailable. Service is restored, though there may be a few intermittent issues through the morning.

We recommend that you attempt a system restart as a preliminary measure before reaching out to the Technology Help Desk if you are experiencing challenges.

Lyonnet-Encrypt and wired internet connections are stable.

If you have any questions, contact the Technology Help Desk at 413-538-2600 or helpdesk@mtholyoke.edu.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

For a short time overnight and early morning of April 23, logging into most systems (including Moodle and eduroam) was unavailable. Service is restored, though there may be a few intermittent issues through the morning.

For a time overnight and early morning April 23rd, Shibboleth (single sign-on) login was unavailable. It is mostly restored, though a few services may have some lingering issues, notably including eduroam.

Systems that use Shibboleth login including Moodle, Financial Aid Online, and most things other than my.mtholyoke and Google services are experiencing problems this morning.

You may access Financial Aid Online using the new single sign-on link provided below

What this means for you:

There is a planned outage of the Financial Aid Online portal from Friday, April 1st at 5pm until Monday, April 4th at 8:30am so Student Financial Services can implement a server upgrade that will allow current students to log on to their student financial aid portal, Financial Aid Online, using single sign-on.

Working with the Five College Network team the issues connecting to SolarWinds has been corrected.

SolarWinds Service Desk, our LITS Help Desk software, is experiencing intermittent slow-down and even connection failure.  We are in contact with the vendor and our colleagues in the 5Colleges.  A work around is to connect via an alternate WiFi, one NOT part of the MHC network.  For those staff working from home you can disconnect from the VPN and use helpdesk.mtholyoke.edu.

LITS reports as of Monday evening, 8/2/21, that all MHC services impacted by the electrical outage today have been restored.  Please restart your computer if you notice any inconsistencies.  We are sorry for the interruption in workflow, and appreciate your patience as our team worked to a final resolution.

Most MHC logins are fixed, including Embark, Handshake, Library Catalog, Moodle, Pathways, Slate. There may be some remaining account login problems; we are seeing if we can pre-emptively identify and correct these.

Eduroam continues to be unavailable, we recommend LyonNet-Encrypt

We are continuing to experience issues related to the electrical problem from earlier today.

The key primary services impacted are listed below. We are working to restore them ASAP:

Moodle, Drupal, Pathways, FoodPro, Embark, The Gates, Slate, PageUp, Library Catalog, and Eduroam (Wifi)

A planned server change at 9:00 am on Thursday, 2/25 may impact a small number of people.  Some users may have trouble logging into Hampshire College’s Moodle. Contact the Help Desk if you need assistance.

Planned testing of configuration changes of campus login services will take place during the day on Monday, 2/15/2021.  Each test should last less than a minute.  Should you encounter issues logging in, please wait 1-2 minutes and try again.
