As we approach the end of the semester, it's a good time to begin planning for summertime operating system upgrades to set our ourselves up for success in the next academic year.
Make sure your Computer is running a Supported Operating System
LITS has a goal of all College-owned faculty and staff computers running supported operating systems by July 1st.
- For Macs: that's macOS 12 Monterey, and macOS 13 Ventura
- macOS 11 Big Sur is available but not preferred
- For PCs: that’s Windows 10 versions 21H2 and newer
Action Steps
Mac users will need to start the upgrade process themselves using these macOS upgrade instructions. Watch a video of what this process will be like.
PC users will receive upgrades in the same manner as they get regular updates. If your computer will be off campus this summer, make sure you connect to the campus VPN periodically for a few hours at a time so your computer can download upgrades from the campus network.
Upgrade when you've got some time!
Upgrading to a supported operating system before you’re up against a big deadline will also improve your experience! Say "goodbye" to ill-timed software glitches and "hello!" to security updates that will keep your data protected.
Thank you for helping keep our campus technology environment safe and running smoothly!
