Americana

Consisting of primary sources for the history of North America from approximately 1730 to 1820, the Americana Collection is particularly rich in books related to the American Revolution, documenting the opinions of writers in the Colonies, Great Britain and, to a lesser extent, France. A more limited number of works document the history of North America prior to 1730, including the diversity of Native American cultures at the time of contact with Europeans.

The following research guide describes a selection of the books on American history available in the Rare Book Collection. The guide is arranged chronologically, with each entry providing author, title, publication date and call number. For more information or assistance, please ask an archivist.
