LITS welcomes alums back to campus. You may use many of the collections, services and spaces on site during the general public building hours. You have all the services available to visitors, as well as a few additional benefits outlined here. Archives and Special Collections is happy to support research related to alum conferences and reunions (and for any other purpose) and actively encourages donations of materials related to your experience at Mount Holyoke. We would love to talk to you about your personal collections. LITS also offers tours to alums each year during both reunion weekends and can host tours at other times of year for visiting alums and mini-reunion groups. Please contact us at ask-lits@mtholyoke.edu to arrange a group tour. Come back to the library and find your old favorite studying haunts or stop into Archives and Special Collections in Dwight Hall and see photographs, yearbooks, student handbooks, special exhibits and more.

When MHC students become alums, they can maintain access to their MHC Google accounts for one year after completing their degree. Learn more about MHC Accounts for alums.
Library services
If you live locally, you may borrow materials from the library. Simply get an Alum OneCard at the Technology Help Desk and stop by the Circulation Desk to update your contact information and check out materials. For further detail on borrowing, see Borrowing and renewing.
You may also use ejournals and library databases while physically in the library. Our license agreements for these resources are, regrettably, restricted to students, faculty and staff and do not permit remote access for alums. Interlibrary loan is also restricted to students, faculty and staff. For those who live farther from campus, we recommend that you check your local public library or the library of your local state university. They may offer similar tools and/or services to assist in your research.

LITS welcomes visitors to use many of the collections, services and spaces on site during the general public building hours. Cardswipe access is required for entry into the LITS Complex after 12:00 am.
The primary mission of LITS is to support the academic needs of current students, faculty and staff of Mount Holyoke College and the other Five Colleges and ensure their reasonable access to LITS resources, spaces and services. On occasion, visitors may be asked to yield to the needs of these primary users.
Computer and WiFi access
Visitors may use the public access computers throughout the LITS buildings in accordance with the College’s acceptable computer use policy. If you wish to connect to the College’s wireless network during your stay, you may use our guest network.
Printing and photocopying
Guest printing is available in the library with a PaperCut guest account. PaperCut guest accounts need to be setup from the PaperCut Pay Station located in the Information Commons. LITS Help Desk staff are available for assistance, also located in the Information Commons.
Library services
Research services are provided by Research Help and in Archives and Special Collections. LITS research services are open to all, regardless of affiliation. Certain categories of visitors may borrow from the library’s collection: alums, faculty and staff partners and children, and residents of South Hadley, Granby, Holyoke and Chicopee. Visitors may use most library databases while they are physically in the library. Interlibrary loan is restricted to Mount Holyoke College students, faculty and staff.
Event posters
The public bulletin boards inside the LITS main doors are available for posting advertisements and flyers for non-LITS services, events, activities and resources. Please do not post flyers anywhere else.
Appropriate behavior
Please note that LITS is committed to facilitating a responsible, pleasant and productive environment for both users and staff. LITS staff will ask users engaging in behavior that disrupts study and effective use of the library to stop the behavior or leave the building. See the Behavior policy for further detail.
Mount Holyoke College emeriti continue to be considered current and full members of the Mount Holyoke community and have access to all LITS services. Sometimes, however, LITS systems do not have the proper coding from Human Resources, and you may find yourself accidentally locked out of a system. If you encounter barriers to access, please contact the Circulation Desk (for library materials) or the Technology Help Desk (for technology questions).
Other Mount Holyoke College affiliates who are sponsored by an academic department, Center, etc. are considered current and full members of the Mount Holyoke community and have access to all LITS services. In addition to your home institutions, Five College students, faculty and staff also have many privileges at Mount Holyoke College.

If you are enrolled in a class at Mount Holyoke, access your Moodle course by going to our Moodle and logging in using your home institution's account.
If you have difficulty accessing Moodle or any other instructional materials required for your class, please contact the Technology Help Desk.
Five College students enrolled in an MHC course are also given an MHC guest account. Learn more about MHC Accounts for Five College students.
You may use Mount Holyoke ejournals and library databases while physically in the library; for remote access and interlibrary loan, you will need to use your home library.
LITS welcomes area residents from South Hadley, Granby, Holyoke and Chicopee to use many of the collections, services, and spaces on site during the general public building hours. You have all the services available to visitors, as well as some borrowing privileges.
Borrowing Mount Holyoke College library materials
- Residents of South Hadley, Granby, Holyoke and Chicopee aged 18 and over can be issued a Mount Holyoke library barcode at the Circulation Desk. To receive a barcode, residents must present a Massachusetts picture ID that shows a current address. If this is not possible, a state-issued picture ID and additional proof of address (e.g., a piece of mail or a utility bill) may be used.
- Mount Holyoke library cards only allow access to Mount Holyoke library materials. They do not extend to the other Five Colleges or to interlibrary loan. Adult residents of Massachusetts can also get borrowing privileges at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Computers and equipment
You are welcome to sit down and use any of the desktop computers in the library. Area residents, however, cannot check out Mount Holyoke laptops or other equipment, as we have limited inventory and restrict equipment access to the Mount Holyoke community.
