Emily Dickinson at Mount Holyoke

Emily Dickinson, x-class of 1849, is one of Mount Holyoke's best known students. The poet attended the Mount Holyoke Female Seminary for one school year during 1847 to 1848. While attending Mount Holyoke, she wrote to her friend Abiah Root: “Miss Lyon and all the teachers seem to consult our comfort and happiness in everything they do and you know that is pleasant.”
