Digitization and scanning

LITS offers a number of services to support your digitization and scanning needs.

Self-service options

Our public multi-function devices (MFDs) provide scanning services in addition to copying and printing. For support resources on using the MFDs or to find their locations around campus, see Printing on campus. Unlike printing, there is no charge for scanning on the MFDs.

Flatbed scanners are also available in the Information Commons in the LITS Complex and a book scanner is available for public use on floor 2 ½, just up the ramp from the Circulation Desk.

Need to digitize audio cassettes, VHS tapes, or photographs and printed images? Visit the Media Teaching Area at the MEWS to use the digitization equipment there. Training is available on site.

Course reserves and other teaching purposes

LITS routinely digitizes content for faculty for course reserves in Moodle. For details on this service, see Placing course reserves. For faculty in need of digitization services for other curricular purposes, please reach out to researchservices-g@mtholyoke.edu.

Research projects and other non-teaching purposes

If the options outlined above are not sufficient for your needs, local vendors also offer professional conversion services. For your convenience, we provide contact information for a few of the vendors in the area.
