LITS recommends that students use an Apple computer running macOS or PC computer running Windows in order to access the most robust support from the LITS Technology Help Desk. Chromebooks are not always compatible with or capable of running software students may need for courses.

Mount Holyoke College students, staff, and faculty have free access to Office 365 for Education. Office 365 includes Word, Excel, OneNote and PowerPoint. You can download the software to your personal computer via the link above.

The LITS Technology Help Desk is not authorized to make changes or hardware repairs on personally owned computers. We can support you in a diagnosis so you have more information when reaching out to an external service vendor, like the ones listed below. There are times where a diagnostic visit restores the computer to working condition, but usually hardware errors require someone to open up the computer and change a component.
