The Mount Holyoke College Academic Software Hub offers current students, faculty and staff access to a host of free and discounted software. Read&Write is literacy software with tools designed for reading, writing, study, and research support. It’s useful for students, faculty, and staff with additional language or literacy needs, or those who need limited screen-time.
Read&Write provides a customizable toolbar that can interact with anything on your computer - even images or PDFs. Available tools include:
- Screenshot reader: a text to speech reader that will speak aloud anything on your screen, including graphics/pictures, inaccessible Flash, and locked PDF documents.
- Screen masking: a tool that adds a grey tint to your screen with a spotlight that moves with your mouse to help you focus on a certain area of a document or webpage.
- Audio maker: converts any text into an audio file.

Current students, faculty and staff have free access to SPSS, Mathematica and MATLAB. Submit the Academic software for home use request form for access.
Mount Holyoke College students and faculty have free access to Office 365 for Education. Office 365 includes Word, Excel, OneNote and PowerPoint.
Staff and faculty can also download Office Professional Plus for a discounted price. Office Professional Plus includes business features beyond those available in Office 365 for Education. See the Microsoft Home Use Program webpage for details (use your MHC email address to access to this website).
